Anna Porter

Anna Porter was born in the latter stages of the Second World War, in Hungary, and came to Canada in 1968. The publisher of one of Canada’s most prominent publishing houses, Key Porter Books, Anna Porter is also the author of three crime fiction novels - Hidden Agenda, Mortal Sins and The Bookfair Murders - all of which take place in the competitive world of international book publishing. Porter has been credited with taking charge of the rich material provided by her own background. Her latest book, The Storyteller… Memory, Secrets, Magic and Lies, serves not only as a memoir of her own childhood, but provides a fascinating record of the 500-year story of her family set in the turbulence of post-war Hungary. Porter’s novel poignantly outlines the efforts made by individuals, who despite the harrowing conditions in which they find themselves, manage to sustain their families through war and emigration. An Officer of the Order of Canada, Porter now lives in Toronto with her husband of 30 years, and their two daughters.
